College Radio Road Trip

College Radio Day is planning an expansion for this year's celebration with ambition to build a Fund to provide grants and scholarships to those students and stations in need. As I hope you are aware CRD is a vastly growing movement, that this year will be celebrated by hundreds of college radio stations across the globe on October 3rd. The College Radio Fund, which will grant students scholarships and at-risk stations the ability to stay 'in business will have have it's official launch later this Summer.
So, to assist in getting the word out about The College Radio Fund and to gain sponsorships I am setting out on a trek of my own, to ask some College Radio Stations who have been involved in CRD in the past why it has been important to them, why continuing a strong radio presence on campus is imperative to the future of the medium, and how they plan to get the word out about this year's CRD. The interview content I aggregate will be produced into a documentary for fundraising and marketing purposes.
I am driving across the country stopping in various cities, at random University's that represent a cross section of College Radio.
Every school has been very accommodating and welcoming. I am asking for any assistance since I am doing this on a very shoestring budget.
College Radio is something I, and many people believe in. Because radio is something that people believe in and it all starts with a good college station to spark the excitement and creativity. We must fight the corporate takeover college radio stations and keep these as training ground for future broadcasters.
