Here's What We Need and What You Get
We're asking for your help to pay for dozens of deserving kids to attend a unique and fun-packed camp to improve their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. In exchange for your financial vote of support, we'll send you a HAPPY gift or maybe two or three of them.
It's hard to overstate the importance of reading. In the age of information and beyond, strong reading and writing skills predict happier, healthier lives. These skills are also central in creating and maintaining a strong democracy.

Summer is a wonderful time for kids to have fun just playing and being kids. It's also the time when we see the achievement gap widening and kids everywhere losing ground in the quest to be capable readers and writers.
HAPPY Reading Camp solves this problem by making it incredibly fun for kids to come celebrate everything that's great about childhood WHILE also working on the pivotal skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening with FULL ASSESSMENTS and PERSONALIZED instructional plans.
Does It Work? Absolutely It Works!
So far, we've completed seven amazing weeks of camp with EVERY SINGLE CAMPER asking to come back for more. Yes. More reading! More writing! More creative camp fun in a social and intellectually stimulating environment.

We've created a welcoming place for children who already love books and for those who need instruction and motivation. Providing all that we do is expensive. We can't let that stop us, distract us, or dampen our enthusiasm for serving as many children as possible. Please help us to make this camp a realistic gift for the many children whose families can't afford the luxury of what we hope will become a simple, more affordable must-have for all children in the years ahead.
We work with individual families for payment flexibility and/or tuition-free scholarships. But HAPPY Reading must still cover the very real costs of facilities rentals, reading specialists, support staff, special presenters, instructional and craft materials, daily snacks, books to own, liability insurance, and other fees. With several weeks of camp remaining, we'd like your help to complete this inaugural year as we find ways to make the venture self-sustaining for future years...and continue to create success stories to share with others.
We are helping children realize their potential as strong readers and writers. We're giving them opportunities to play sports together, create art together, learn history, science and make music together. At the same time, we are strengthening the foundation of our democracy. We are paving the way towards a brighter future for all of us. And we are making a road map for others to follow. This is not summer slide. This is not summer school. This is HAPPY Reading Camp.
