Help Val Finish her Secondary Ed Degree

It's interesting, isn't it, how you personally can be all about helping others and lifting them up (even wanting that to be your career!) and having a terrible time asking others when you are the one who needs help?
With a little inspiration from the amazing Amanda Palmer, I've decided to take a suggestion made by someone earlier this year (if you know who you were, remind me...I owe you) and start a GoFundMe campaign to raise the money to finish my degree so I can become an English teacher.
I want to teach English because I believe in the power of words. I believe in the power of expression. I believe that teachers can change lives. The amazing letters of recommendation I received from my professors tell me that they saw something in me that deserves to be shared. That I have something to give in this field.
Right now, I work as a significant support needs paraprofessional at a high school. And I love this work, I do. I've learned so much helping students whose abilities range from those who I am still teaching the alphabet to those who simply need support to be sucessful in a gen ed classroom. This work is very rewarding, but I know my talent truly lies in sharing my love of literature and writing with students, especially with everything I've learned from the SSN teachers and students I've worked with. I've been able to sit in the classrooms of other teachers and learn, learn, learn. I've seen best practices in action and learned how I never want my classroom to look.
Now, it's time for me to take everything I've learned over the last two years and apply it to my own classroom with 100 new students every year. That's 100 opportunities to change someone's life every. single. year. How could I not be encouraged and humbled by that idea.
