Study Abroad in Russia!

Hello! My name is Amber Walden and I am a Junior History major/Russian minor at Howard University in Washington, D.C. This fall I am hoping to accomplish one of my lifelong dreams and travel abroad! I will be studying Russian Area Studies in St. Petersburg, Russia this fall through the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE). I fought hard through financial and emotional troubles to complete the application and paperwork for this trip. I have also worked as an intern in D.C. this summer to earn the ticket money and to support my end dream of becoming a voice for cultural and governmental harmony in the world. Studying another language and attempting to live within another country and culture is vital to my dream. However, even though the program fees are covered through my institutional scholarship, I do not have enough money for the plane ticket. I would hate to think that I worked so hard and sacrificed so much to have the last seven months result in... nothing. So I am doing something very unusual for me; I am asking for help. I know that I can contribute to my community and country by becoming a better global citizen. Please help me achieve not only my dream but the dream of our founding fathers, who also had the dream to "form a more perfect Union."
