The Fight To Keep My Son Safe

The fight for my son has begun.



My close friends have seen the journey of Hunter's broken leg on Facebook, but our struggle goes much further.  I've just kept quiet about it.  

Hunter was hit by a car while riding his bike to school, a tragic accident that has been a long hard road.  Not just for me financially ($200,000 in medical debt), but for him physically, mentally and emotionally.

Meanwhile, I have been enduring a somewhat quiet battle with my children's father, my, ex-husband.  He is bipolar, over self-medicating, suicidal, alcoholic and dangerous.  He's been arrested for physical violence against me, his parents, his current wife and a police officer.  Most recently he beat in a bedroom door to get to Hunter, all in an acoholic fit of rage.  
 
I have an injunction against him to keep him away from Hunter and me.  While being on probation he has been careful to not violate this injuction, but he is fighting me hard in court.  I am attempting to have our custody agreement modified so that he cannot have visitation with Hunter unless it is supervised.  I also want to have the injucted extended to keep him away longer.  We are safer that way.

To truly accomplish this, I must have an attorney.  My ex is already trying to have the injunction dissolved and at that point, I wouldn't have any way to keep him from Hunter.  



Without an attorney, I will surely lose.  I am receiving no child support, no state aid, and with mounting medical bills I do not have the funds to pay for an attorney.  

I have started this "Go Fund Me" in the hopes that if several people can give even a small amount, I will be able to extend the restraining order and ensure that, with permanent, supervised visitation, he will never again have the opportunity to harm me or my child ever again.
