Amy's Fight Against Stage 4 Lymphoma

Early this spring my mom noticed some unusual bumps on her head and started getting headaches. Initially her doctor just thought that they were cysts but after several weeks and a few biopsies we were shocked to find out that was not the case. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lymphoma with three masses in her head and and one in her Sacrum. As soon as she got the diagnosis she had a port inserted in her chest and on June 27, 2014 she got her first round of Chemotherapy. She is having the strongest Chemo that a person can get and therefore can only have it once every three weeks. Her doctor's plan is to do 6 rounds of this for 18 weeks. She will have her first three rounds of Chemo then they will do another PET scan. If the masses have started to shrink after the first three treatments the prognosis will be good. This PET scan will take place sometime in late August. We are praying hard that these tumors shrink and respond to the Chemo and that there are no complications! So, with all that being said I am hoping to raise money to help my mom out during this difficult time. She is married and has 4 daughters. The youngest, Hanna is only 7 so is at home. My mom and her husband both work and they rely on both of their incomes. My mom's insurance is also through her employer. She works for a small privately owned factory that unfortunately does not offer FMLA. My mom has only had her first two rounds of Chemo and they are making her pretty sick. She tries to work through it but has had to miss more days then she has worked. We are very grateful that her employer has been working with her to let her take the days off she needs but she doesn't have any more sick or vacation time to use so she doesn't get paid when she doesn't work and that is problematic when you need and rely on that income. With her medical bills starting to come in, living expenses, and other bills she is starting to get stressed out about how this is all going to work out. So, she is stuck in a hard place while trying to fight this cancer. If we could help alleviate some of that stress by helping them financially she could eliminate a major stressor and only focus on getting better and she wouldn't have to feel so bad about missing so many days of work when she needs to rest. The money that is raised will go towards her medical bills and living expenses for her, her husband, and my little sister Hanna as my mom goes through her Chemotherapy and has to miss work. Her doctor is about 40 minutes away too so that is also extra gas money and expenses as well. She has had some wonderful people around her helping out at this time watching Hanna while her husband tries to work extra hours and bringing meals and food for them. If you would consider helping financially we would be so grateful! We just want my mom to be able to really feel like she can rest and fight this thing and not have to worry about the money part of it. Please keep our family in your prayers.
