Officer David Martinez

Donation protected
David Martinez joined the Houston Police Department in 1983 and has worked in many divisions of the dept and was most recently assigned to the Auto Theft Division.  David is married to Lt. Leslie Martinez.  Unfortunely, David had to retire and Leslie had to quit her job to be David's full time caregiver.

David suffered a debiliating illness called Acute Necrotizing Pancreatitis.  Without any symptoms or indications of what was to come, Officer Martinez suddenly collapsed and was transported to the hospital in critical condition where within 48 hrs he went into multi-organ failure.  Over the course of 4 months, Officer Martinez underwent 13 surgeries to remove multiple organs that have failed inside his body.

He remained in critical condition for 4 months and was kept in a state of total sedation while the doctors continued to attempt to sustain is life.  Despite the extreme grim odds of survival, Officer Martinez prevailed and was transferred to a medical rehabilitation center where he was faced with beginning to learn how to complete the most mumdane daily functions again.

His journey is still not over.  Although the hospital released him, he had had to be rushed back several times.  Just yesterday, 7/22/14,  he went into septic shock, collapsed and is back in ICU.  The Martinez family is a hard working family and worked to protect our

community.  Please let all of us come together as a community and help them with the mounting medical bills they are facing.
