Sixth Annual Concert, February 2015

Since 2006, I have been very fortunate to associate with some of the finest classical musicians in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area who have been most kind to donate their time and efforts. I have given concerts at Duke and Meredith College, as guest faculty. These musicians can, if their schedules allow, play about once a year, sometimes once every two years; this fits in with my annual composition concerts.

However, some music has remained unperformed, as some musicians simply cannot afford to play for free--nor should they have to. However it is not possible for me to charge for tickets, and I do not have grant funding. While I am on the faculty at NCSU, it is in the physics department, not the music department, so I cannot use my own school's resources. Thus, several chamber pieces requiring brass and woodwinds remain unperformed years after their composition.

In addition, these concerts are professionally recorded and videotaped by Rob Musser (VoChor). You can see the fine results on my YouTube channel and on my website's music page. This requires the use of expensive equipment and Rob's valuable time and effort.

I recently had a Kickstarter campaign with a goal of $2000. In a month we raised a little over half the goal. With this new minimum sum of $1000, I could have a good shot at giving musicians enough of an honorarium to play the orphaned works in February 2015, most likely at Meredith College here in Raleigh. However this may not suffice; I am hoping for more, all of which would go to the concert expenses. If the funding is not enough for a concert, I would use whatever funds come in to help encourage the performance and recording of my music on other concerts in the area.
