Help Me make a Giant Buddha

Hello, my name is Yuuki DeMura and this is my Eagle project. I am Boy Scout, part of troop 185, in Dublin Ohio. This GoFundMe is a fundraiser for my Eagle project to pay for the materials that I will need to make a large Buddha statue for the Cloudwater Zendo a Zen Center in Cleveland Ohio.
My Eagle Project will be a replica statue of the Kamakura Daibutsu (see picture above). On a family trip to Japan in 2009 I was blown away by the beauty of this Giant Buddha. The actual statue in Kamakura is 43.8 feet tall so my replica will obviously be just a little smaller, but we're still going for BIG. My statue will be around 40 inches tall and will be cast in a light weight concrete but will still be very heavy (around 400 pounds!)
To build this replica of the Giant Buddha we will have to make a sculpture from wire frame and paper clay. From this master copy we will be able to cast a mold in latex rubber that will be reinforced with a fiberglass backing. This will be our mold used for casting our concrete sculpture. All of the funds raised here will be used only for the material costs in building the Buddha statue and transporting it to Cleveland any remaining funds raised or not used will be donated to the Cloudwater Zendo who has graciously allowed me to do this project for them.
