Brooke Craig's Medical Expenses

Donation protected
Welcome! This fund is to assist Brooke and her family with the Medical Expenses involved from her almost tragic car wreck on January 24, 2013. It is almost certain that Physical Therapy will continue even after she is discharged from the Hospital, so I hope to raise enough money to help with that as well.

Her father, Ricky Craig, and her older sister, Brittany Craig, have been by her side day and night at the hospital since the accident.

We still don't know all of the details from the wreck, but we do know that she lost control of the truck, it flipped and ejected Brooke through the windshield and into the woods on Glasscock Rd in Rock Hill. By the Grace of God, someone that knew the family drove up on the wreck shortly after it happened and called 911.

Brooke had to be airlifted to CMC where she immediately underwent brain surgery. She had other injuries to her pelvis, spleen, and a fractured left wrist, but the Hospital knew that her head trauma was top priority at the time. The right side of her brain was swelling so they had to remove some of her skull to allow the brain to swell. They also placed her on a ventilator to help with her breathing.

January 28th, she was still unconscious but when asked to wiggle her fingers, stick her tongue out, and give a thumbs up, she was able to do so. She still wasn't able to move her toes or any of her left side.

January 30th, she gave us a smile, which truly made our day.

February 3rd, she was becoming much more alert and active, although not fully conscious.

February 4th, she was able to breathe on her own the majority of the day.

By the week of February 10th, she had been breathing on her own for a few days. The Doctors have had to drain fluid off her brain a couple of times but she is still progressing.

February 15th, the Doctors were able to place the skull bone back in because the brain swelling had gone down.

February 18th, the Doctors removed the drain from her brain.

We Love You!

February 21st, she started Rehab. She was more alert and the Doctors have been giving her medicine to help her brain wake up more. This week was rough on her as they moved her around more and more.

February 25th, the Nurses, sat her up and we were able to wheel her around in a wheelchair, which we know she enjoyed. They plan on reducing her trach size on the 27th so maybe then she will be able to work on talking.

As March began, Brooke proved to be getting stronger and stronger. Although she is still unable to move her left side, she is handling physical therapy well and continuing to fight. She has been able to speak a few words and answer some questions, but we still have a long way to go. We are hoping that she can be sent home around the beginning of April.

Please continue to pray for Brooke, Brittany, and Ricky during this long road to recovery. The donations provided to this site will go straight to Ricky Craig (Brooke's Father) to assist in paying the Medical Expenses and future Physical Therapy needed because of Brooke's Accident. Thank you for your contribution, support, and continued prayers!!! God Bless!

PS - A TBD (To Be Determined) event will be held in the near future to help raise as much money as we can for the Craig family. Please check back often for updates and info on the when and where of the event. Until then, please donate what you can! Thank you!
