Bruce Wayne Dane's Continued Care
On Wednesday June 24, our 5 month old Great Dane Baby Bruce Wayne was acting kind of different. Very lethargic and not wanting to eat anything--he also had an odd swelling on his lip we wanted to get checked out. Unfortunately, I was scheduled for surgury that following day so we were unable to get him to a vet immediately and wanted to see if he would come around and beat it on his own. Come Friday the 26th, Bruce was still not eating so I asked my husband to take him to the vet.
My husband took Bruce to the vet on Friday around 3:40 and expected to get some antibiotics and be sent on his way (seemingly what the vet expected as well)--until his blood test results came back. His kidney values were 4x the high level (no wonder the poor guy didn't feel good). Our vet reccommended that we transfer to the emergency vet for around-the-clock care, especially since we were entering the weekend. Finally around 6:00pm Friday, my husband arrived home to update me on the whole situation. As Bruce's mumma (and relatively incapacitated, and useless from my surgery), you can imagine I didn't take this well.
A call to the vet on Saturday revealed that his numbers had not gone down as we expected but rather up even farther! Sunday revealed that his numbers had moved down a miniscule amount, but not enough to make anyone comfortable and unfortunately left Bruce still in the danger zone. So, here we are today, 3 days after orignal admittance and still unsure of the cause of my little man's kidney issues.
As you can imagine, the cost of these medical tests and treatments is not free, and we have reached our limit. My husband and I are asking for your help to continue giving Brucey the best chance of beating whatever this is. Any amount can help and make it possible for Bruce to come home where he belongs.
