Half Dog Park, Half Bar

Donation protected
Summary
Quincy’s Tavern and Dog Park will be a unique gathering place in Houston, Texas. By providing exemplary service, a vast selection of beer and wines and in a relaxed, comfortable setting, QUINCY’S TAVERN will be the premier bar that all dog owners come to from all over the Greater Houston Area.

The success of the bar is in its uniqueness – offering dog owners an experience like that which is not currently available in Houston; a place to have cold drinks and watch their dogs play leash free in the attached dog park.

Menu
QUINCY’S TAVERN will offer a broad variety of specialty and craft beers and wines with a strong focus on local brews which will appeal to the public’s ever changing and increasingly more sophisticated demands for variety in beer and wine. Beverages may be rotated due to seasonal changes by brewers. This will be notated on the website and social media pages.

Atmosphere
QUINCY’S TAVERN will provide a fun, pet friendly environment for its patrons. Built inside a refurbished building, it still retains some of it’s antique look, with a warm feeling and a trendy vibe.  Designed specifically to showcase the special bond between dog and man/woman.  This is the only bar in Houston catering to dog owners.

The indoor furnishings however simple (and dog tough) are comprised of wooden chairs and small tables throughout the bar. These items will be obtained at various local resale shops or through online discount retailers and although not entirely matching, lend an eclectic look to the bar. The walls are adorned with a hodgepodge collection of memorabilia from the local area as well as lots of antique and unique photos of boxer dogs (Quincy was a boxer and my first dog). A faux fireplace will be surrounded by comfy wingback chairs with walls of classic books behind them.

The patio/deck that connects the main building to the park will have access to the deck bar on days when the weather permits. The deck also features outdoor tables, chairs and barstools. You will also find the “dog bath” rental at one end of the deck so that pet owners can pay a small fee to bathe their dogs before heading home.

The fenced, outdoor dog park will be divided into two sections;  one specifically for small dogs and another for all dogs.  The park will feature a small corner stage for musicians or a platform for animal rescue fundraising events. The grounds of the dog park will be mulch, cleaned every day and replenished as required. There will be a pet waste station as owners are asked to clean up after their own pets. The park will also feature many picnic tables, some with umbrellas, for the dog owners to sit and participate in intelligent conversation while watching their pets play. Part of the park will be covered with fragrant jasmine vines to create more shade under which there will be picnic tables. 2 or 3 shade trees will also be planted around the park area in addition to those already on the property. A small agility area will be in rear of the park for the dogs to climb on. Speakers will be positioned around the park playing modern music. An elevated concrete wood burning fireplace will be used for the cooler months.

Marketing Strategy
No other venue in Houston offers a leash free environment for dog patrons. Quincy's Tavern is unique in this regard and will be an altnerative for those few lesser friendly bars or restaurants which only allow pets on patio and tied to their leash.

We will also rely on:
• Advertising
Outdoor Signage
Attractively updated building and property.
Grand Opening
Limited Print Media
• Social Media Marketing
• Word of Mouth
• Partnerships with local animal rescue groups

Financial Plan
We anticipate startup costs to run between $400,000 and $600,000.  This includes property acquistion because we don't want to become victim to the land being sold from under us.

Management
Wade Beyer’s dream of owning a bar began as a college student in the town of Austin where he attended the University of Texas. It was his dream to open a bar in other cities like Corpus Christi or Houston where he currently resides. He wanted to bring the energy and excitement that he experienced in other cities to his hometown. Given his love of dogs, Mr. Beyer perceives the opportunity to open QUINCY’s TAVERN as the best strategy to realize his dream and be at the head of a nationwide dog park/bar trend.

More importantly, we pledge to continually serve our community and the many homeless animals we have in Houston.
