Help us Renovate the Cobalt Cafe

Greetings!
My name is John McCrary. I've owned and operated a small all ages music promotion company called twoHEARTS Shows. Starting in September, I will officially be taking over booking and managing the Cobalt Cafe in Canoga Park, Ca full time. The Cobalt has a very special place in my heart to me, as I've been able to book many wonderful touring and local musicians over the last 10+ years. I know that over the years, the Cobalt has had a stigma of being a certain type of venue for many people, bands and music lovers alike.
Dave, the owner of the Cobalt, will be stepping away from the Cobalt for a variety of personal / health issues that have come up, and require his much needed attention for the foreseeable future. While he has at times opted to close the venue, I've decided NOW is the time to step up, take over bookings, and manage the venue, and, hopefully, make the necessary changes needed to make the Cobalt a thriving hotbed for local and touring artists, and the premiere stop in Los Angeles for emerging artists.
I've decided to reach out to the Los Angeles / Southern California all ages music community and open up a GoFundMe to help us out with this ambitious and much needed renovation of the Cobalt, while still keeping it in good faith of its original intentions, to provided a warm and inviting home for live music.
The plan is to raise funds to do a variety of upgrades and improvements, such as the following:
- brand new PA / Speaker system, complete with brand new mains / monitors / 32 channel digital mixing board / subs / new snake (most important function of this GoFundMe)
- Reinforcing the stage. Must be mosh worthy.
- New painted stage backdrop.
- New floor (tearing of the old carpet / flooring / cleaning / installation of new carpeting / flooring)
- improvements to both womens / mens bathrooms.
- new deco
- brand new permanent merch wall for bands to hang merch.
- new larger fridge for concession.
- Back line for bands (cabs / house drums)**
- Possible marquee**
- in-house ticketing machine / copier for flyers / posters**
**if funds permitting. PA / Flooring / bathrooms come first**
Additional funds will be used to also host a free show once improvements are made to showcase the venue's new improvements. My goal is to make the Cobalt a destination spot once again, where it's always cool to come back for shows, whether it's your first time, or your 100th.
I am not afraid to say that i CANNOT do this alone. I am proud of the shows I've done here, and plan to do here in the future. We plan to bring back indie / ska / punk nights back, as well. We want the Cobalt to be about community, like it's supposed to be. I want this place to thrive, and I need your help. $1, $5, $50, $100, whatever. Anything and everything helps. Help keep your scene alive.
