Boxing It Up, to Give Thanks

As the Thanksgiving season nears, it is important to try and reach those in our community who will be going without a nourishing meal or enjoying the simple traditions of a Thanksgiving celebration.  Bridgeport High School (BHS) Key Club plans to "Box it Up" for this holiday and "Give Thanks" to those in need.  This fundraiser serves to continue bringing awareness to hunger and less fortune in our communities.  With an initial goal to fill and distribute 100 boxes, the goal soon had to be raised to meet the requestes that were coming in.   Boxes will contain either a frozen turkey or canned ham, vegetable sides, sweet potatoes, rolls and gravy.  Key Clubbers are working with local organizations to continue identifying those in need across the county.  Initial community service targets were Shepherd's Corner, The Mission, and Backpack Ministry.   As part of Key Clubs civil responsibility, members will promote awareness and fundraising, aide in the coordination of the boxes and support their distribution.  Join BHS Key Club and local partners State Farm Insurance and Shop-n-Save to help "Give Thanks" this Thanksgiving Season.  With 165 boxes already reserved, the campaign is in need of funding!
