BUILDING BRIDGES - SISAKET THAILAND

Donation protected

Hello Friends, Family, previous supporters and those wanting to help with the latest installment of “Building Bridges”.

The video above represents our previous 3 volunteer trips and some images from my visit to Phra Yee's kingdom as a guest teacher for his weekly English class, successfully organized and directed by his own doing.

BUILDING BRIDGES - SISAKET THAILAND

As with each of our previous volunteer excursions, it is our goal to help out where we can using our combined skills, educations and experiences.

We are currently in the initial stages of creating the structure of a Building Bridges experience that will be led by a previous participant, Phra Narin, as a direct result of his participation in the last volunteer experience to Chaopoluangoupatam 10 in Papae Maesareng. Narin has expressed  interest in having our small group of volunteers visit his hometown in Sisaket Thailand some 17 hours south of Chiang Mai.

This trip will take some of us over 650 miles from our current homes in Chiang Mai and Laos to Sisaket Province where we will once again visit an elementary school in order to pass along much needed school supplies including books, sporting equipment, and individual student scholarships.  As part of our visit to the school, our volunteers will share Buddhist teachings and will also discuss the benefits of meditation including a short meditation practice with instruction, (from the pros themselves) as well as participate in some fun and games.

In addition to this part of the project, Phra Narin has also expressed interest in setting up a small “Reading Room” with English books for beginners and materials for practicing reading and writing, including a large size dry erase board, notebooks, pens, pencils, crayons and coloring books.

It is my hope that I will be able to spend at least 4-5 days working with students interested in listening to and learning from a native English speaker.

I will take it upon myself to pay for my own transportation costs, but we are also looking to cover the costs of transportation for a couple of the previous participants who are now currently living in Laos. As a bus ride would require a 17-hour commitment, I am looking to raise enough funds to also cover the costs of airfare for these gentlemen. This of course will depend on the generosity of you, our funders on whether we can afford to make this can happen.

Every individual donation received will be rewarded with Artwork based on my experience here in Southeast Asia. From hand-printed postcards to original archival quality linocut prints on up to original acrylic paintings for super donations of $500 and up.

I look forward to seeing some familiar faces on this fundraising pages and if anyone is missing a print from the last “Building Bridges” trip, let me know. I have sent artwork out to everyone already from my current location in Thailand and it is always possible that your “reward” was lost in transit.

Thank you again for your continued support!!!
