Bits & Pieces Art Program for Kids
THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES ART INSTRUCTION AND SUPPLIES TO AT-RISK PUBLIC SCHOOL STUDENTS
Our goal is to enhance the artistic and scholastic experience of children whose schools lack funding for adequate art programs, and whose families may not be able to afford art education on their own. Our program focuses on art journaling, and primarily serves lower-income areas in Southern California.
Art journaling "“ a combination of visual art and traditional journaling "“ nurtures creativity, strengthens language and fine motor skills, and bolsters a child's self-esteem while providing a positive form of self-expression. Art journaling is a valuable tool that provides positive focus, promotes personal growth, and encourages non-violent conflict resolution through visual and verbal expression.
Bits & Pieces Art Program promotes re-using and up-cycling materials whenever possible by encouraging students to use materials that may otherwise be headed for the landfill. This benefits the world at large while simultaneously helping to ease budgetary concerns closer to home.

OUR GOAL
Our goal is to raise $10,000. This dollar amount will allow us to set up an account with an established non-profit - Charitable Ventures - who will serve as our fiscal receiver. Working under their umbrella will make future donations tax-deductible, will allow us to seek grants and corporate sponsors, and will allow us to receive larger monetary donations and matching funds. All of these things are essential to growing the program and serving these at-risk children who desperately need art, creative writing, and a positive form of self-expression in their lives.
Reaching the 10K mark will assure that Bits & Pieces either aligns with a fiscal receiver or becomes its own non-profit. However, regardless of whether or not the 10K mark is reached, all proceeds received will go towards providing art supplies and other materials to at-risk children. Monies will be used to purchase items like blank journals, scissors, glue sticks, crayons, mini ink pads, papers, and more.
