Shattering Bisexual Invisibility through Art and Culture.
We are a volunteer-led grassroots collective whose vision is to build a space that celebrates bisexual lives and culture through music, craft, art, performance, poetry, film and video. This is Toronto’s first Bi Arts Festival, and it will be held 22nd-24th September, 2017.
We believe in the power of stories; to inspire, to engage, to reflect, to create community and to instill hope. We believe in the transformative experience of seeing oneself reflected powerfully and authentically on screen, stage and on the gallery walls. We celebrate and honour the creative force in each of us, and are excited to be sharing with you new creative work, work that can confront perceptions, build bridges, and open hearts.
Our goal is to create a space that affirms the many wonderful identities that challenge mono-sexuality - so whether you identify as queer, bisexual, pansexual, fluid, omnisexual, demisexual, two-spirit, asexual - or you don't like labels at all - we invite you to join us in September.
We look to bring people together to have important conversations about bisexual identity and the intersections of gender and gender expression, sexuality, voice, race, activism, ability, and aging — all through the creative lens of art. Our hope is to broaden our collective understanding of what it means to not only live but thrive as a bisexual or fluid person in 2017.
