3rd Grade Classroom Library and More

Hello all!

My name's Christina, from Boston, MA.  I went to school in Tampa, FL and taught grades K-4 for my first 2 years out of school in a renaissance title 1 school.  In January, I relocated back to New England seeking a teaching job in a similar school.

To this day, one of my all time favorite quotes remains, "Stay true to the dreams of your youth". I believe it strongly supports my teaching philosophy; if a child aspires to be something when they "grow up", it is essential we as teachers instill the confidence, acknowledge the success, provide the resources, support the failures, and encourage the students as individuals to never give up until they reach their ultimate dream. It is so significant for students to set goals for themselves, work towards them, sometimes fail, in that case learn from, try again, and then succeed. Not only do we teach curriculum as teachers, but we additionally shape students as growing people.

I believe that every child is equal and entitled to a rich and fulfilling educational experience. My positive energy is used to motivate the students to be the very best they can be every day. My goal is to inspire every student so that their interests grow and their inner strengths become stronger.

With that said and after many months of applying, I am thrilled to announce I was recently offered a 3rd grade position for the fall!

When I left Tampa, I also left all of the classroom library books and other classroom materials I accquired behind.  There are many things I can teach without, but BOOKS are just not one of those items!  Students read independently, with partners, in groups, listen to read alouds and aside from the subject of reading, students read material in all subject areas.  When you think back to your elementary classrooms, there were books and with your help, I can really start collecting some favorites to share with my new students!

The 2014-2015 school year is right around the corner and I am hopeful our classroom library is stocked with leveled books across the genres.  I am excited for students to be excited to learn through the use of their imagination while learning.

I thank you in advance for all of your help!
