Wayne Beam Memorial Granite Brick

Donation protected
Help raise the $250 to create a memorial granite brick in Wayne Beam's name on the Church Street Marketplace in Burlington, VT - to be placed during Pride weekend (September 12-14th).

This spring, we lost a dear queer community member – Wayne Beam. He was a long-time bartender and events producer in the community – starting at 135 Pearl and tending to all of us in more ways than one over the years at many venues and events. He is greatly missed by all.

Wayne really loved baseball and as our way to keep his spirit of love and joy alive in all our hearts, we are shifting the annual old north end Ramble pop-up! queer kick ball game into …

the first WAYNE WIFFLE BALL GAME on Saturday, July 26th at 10am-12pm at the Sustainability Academy at Lawrence Barnes Elementary School on North Street in Burlington, VT. In the shady, grassy baseball field behind the school, we will gather to play one epic game of wiffleball.  All Ages. All Abilities. Everyone gets to play (we will sub in if there are lots of folks).

::DONATION INFO PRIOR TO GAME::
Can't make the game?  We will be collecting donations via this site up to and through the wiffleball game, getting to the goal.  Any extra money raised will be all given to Wayne's family to help cover memorial costs from back in May.  Any amount helps - consider it your last bartender tip to Wayne!

::TEAM INFO::
Two teams will be picked that morning, bring a blank shirt that you can mark up with your pick of a jersey number & team name (which will be picked by the team that morning too). No skill required, just bring your love of Wayne and wiffleball.

::QUEERLEADER INFO::
Not much into playing? Then come be part of the pick up queerleading squad to cheer on each team! Pom Poms, outfits, and cheers DIY!

::DONATION INFO AT THE GAME::
This game kicks off a community fundraising effort to raise $250 to create a granite brick with Wayne’s name on it for Church Street. It is a way to honor his memory and the impact he made on so many lives. Our goal is to raise the money by Pride weekend in September (9/13-9/14) so we can place the brick that weekend.

Donation sliding scale asked per player. If everyone kicks in $5 per player (or more), we will be well on the way toward the brick. Every bit helps! [cash accepted at the game].

Please pass the word!

Let’s queer up this wiffle ball game in Wayne’s honor!
