"Be Emmazing"

Donation protected
In May 2013, Emma van Nostrand came to Toronto to run her first-ever marathon. The 18 year-old from Nova Scotia didn’t finish the race, succumbing to a rare and undiagnosed heart abnormality before she could reach the finish line. Emma’s passing was felt by runners across the Toronto running community, and stays with us to this day.

In her memory, Emma’s parents Kathy and Steven organized the “Be Emmazing ” memorial 5k and 10k run, which raises money for the The Riverview Scholarship Fund in Emma’s memory at her old high school. To date, the run has seen over 1000 people participating, and raised close to $70,000. All money raised goes to the fund with absolutely no raised funds being used to cover expenses.

This year, the family is looking for support to offset the expenses of the 2015 run, which will be held on May 3. The race offers shirts, chip timing, and refreshments , and all of these things cost money. We'd like to raise $1000 to give to the family to help them with this year's expenses, and we think the Toronto running community has the heart and passion to make it happen.

With the race falling annually on the same dates as the Goodlife and Mississauga marathons, it’s hard for Toronto runners to get to Nova Scotia to run the race and support the Van Nostrand family. But we’d like to show them we haven’t forgotten them.

Please help in any way you can; all funds raised will go directly to the family to help them offset costs for this year’s run.
