hi, my name is adrien. i'm 20, transgender, mentally ill, and i live with my mom and 16 year old sibling. up until recently we have been able to pay mortgage on our house with the child support we received from my father. but two months ago, he was laid off from his job and did not even bother to contact us to tell us this. we only found out because payments stopped coming and my mom called his work to ask why we weren't receiving our money. my mom waited two weeks then directly contacted my father only to get guilt tripped and yelled at. supposedly, he applied for unemployment but it's been two months and we still haven't seen a penny of it or heard from him.
my mom works a full time job as a school bus driver and suffers from chronic illnesses, including lupus and fibromyalgia, which makes going to work each day very tough on her body. even working full time, she only makes around $20k a year and has to support herself and her two kids. she is afraid to call my father again because he is emotionally abusive and she can't mentally handle speaking to him. we can't afford an attorney and the waiting list for free legal help is so long that it doesn't seem worth it. my father doesn't seem to have any plans to contact us about getting unemployment or getting a new job or doing anything else that might help us out.
without that child support, we can't afford to keep paying our mortgage and we will be foreclosed on within the next few months. this is inevitable and no amount of help will keep this from happening.
instead, i'm asking for money to make sure that when we do lose our house, we'll be able to make rent for a little while a bit easier in an apartment and we will be able to afford food and necessities and to pay bills because money will be even tighter than it has been recently. even in an apartment, it will still be extremely difficult to meet rent and still have money left over.
this is a really stressful situation for all three of us and any help is so appreciated. i feel guilty for asking for money for nothing, so i'd like to add that i am almost always open to commissions through tumblr when not swamped by schoolwork.
