Niko's Cataract Surgery

Donation protected

This is Niko. He is a spunky, cuddly fur-ball-of-a-Husky who just recently celebrated his 1st birthday on June 17th. The runt of his litter; he's been biting ankles and howling like one of his long lost ancestors since day one.

My mother rescued him from a back yard breeder when she desperartely needed something to cheer up my little sister when she was battling depression and fatigue resulting from her lifelong issues with Epilepsy and CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome).

Unfortunately, yesterday we've discovered he's suffering from a hereditary condition known as Juvenile Cataracts. He's completely blind in his left eye at the age of 1, with a small cataract forming in his right. Only one year on our great planet, and he might not see much more of it...

Cataracts are essentially the clouding or darkening of the eye lens, and when it is inherited through breeding, it is impossible to prevent. Lasic surgery for pets is almost the exact same price as it is for us human beings, and most pet insurers wont include lasic surgery on their policies.

Any donation will help, at the very MINIMUM, we hope to save one of his eyes so that he can still experience life and enjoy it on his own terms (the world is his dog park.) He's just a baby. Most dogs experiencing cataracts are aging and have lived long and healthy lives. This little brat has barely scratched the surface. Please help by sharing and or donating.
