Barb's brain surgery and recovery

Donation protected
Friends and family - please take a few moments to read this - we know that the following information may come as a surprise to many, and regret that there is simply not time to personally contact everyone who loves and cares for Barb. We hope that you will understand it is simply our intention to reach as many of you as possible on the short timeline that we currently have - and are grateful at a time like this that tools such as GoFundMe and Facebook exist.

This account has been created with Barb’s permission, but not at her request.  Funds are being stewarded by Howard and Laurie McCafferty.

On March 25th Barb Coyne was diagnosed with a tumor deep in the base of her brain, crossing both hemispheres following several weeks of unexplained illness. She will have surgery on Monday, March 30th at 11:30 EST to remove the tumor. At this time we do not know if it is cancer or not, however, due to the location and size - time is of the essence.

If you’ve never met Barb - let me tell you a little bit about a remarkable woman who many are privileged to call sister and friend:

Barb was born and raised in Ohio - and came to Georgia in 2004 to seek healing and freedom from years of addiction. God met her in a powerful way - and in response to the freedom that He gave, she has since laid down her life to minister to others who have been caught in the grips of addiction. As a direct result of Barb’s willingness and obedience to surrender her life to be used by God, literally hundreds of lives have been touched, and countless women and their families have come to experience the freedom that is available in Christ.

Barb is currently being cared for by Howard and Laurie McCafferty, and is confidently hoping in the Lord for healing. At this time she is requesting that we all refrain from calling or texting as she is not feeling well enough to respond, however, Laurie has shared that everyone’s prayers and well wishes are definitely ministering to Barb, and she is appreciative of our love and support.

As you may imagine, Monday’s surgery is only the beginning of a long road - which is why this page was created. Barb does have health insurance, but has a high deductible and no guarantee that all of her surgery and follow up treatments/therapy/services will be covered by her plan. We are setting an initial goal of raising $70,000 - and although a small percentage of the funds raised will go to the GoFundMe site - 100% of monies received beyond that fee will go directly to Barb’s medical care.

We are confident that God is able to provide entirely for his daughter - and welcome all levels of participation and support - prayers and financial!

Updates will be posted as more information becomes available.
