This campaign is the culmination of over 40 years of a career in radio that this kid from Pittston, PA could have never imagined. How I dreamed of being one of the voices I heard on the radio from nearby big cities like New York and Philadelphia, and far away AM signals that came in at night from cities like Chicago and Detroit. The Flashback40 Radio Network will be one of the first formats born on the Internet to migrate to broadcast terrestrial radio, and bring back personality listener-driven radio to your town again ! You will help us make history with your donation, and help us shape the sound of this channel. Growing up in Pittston, in the shadows of Philadelphia and New York City, about 90 miles from each, I heard some of the best radio in the country, who super-served their listeners, and that's what we will aspire to do.
Since then I have been fortunate to entertain millions across the USA on Jones Radio Networks, Worldwide on AIR1, "Positive Hits" the Christian Hit Music Channel and on the air in cities like Philadelphia, Miami, Toronto, Denver, Orlando, Dallas, and Los Angeles, where while at KIIS-FM in the early 90’s, I created the first “Retro” Hit Radio show to feature 70’s & 80’s music featuring the major genres of Pop, Rock, Urban, & Dance, it was The Banana Joe Flashback Show gaining #1 ratings in the ultra competitive Los Angeles market.
A 24/7 format spinoff was launched online in 2005, Flashback40 Radio now operating as one of the first 24/7 Internenet radio channels, predating many of the majors such as Pandora and Spotify. Flashback40 Radio Network features the music of the 70s, 80s, & 90s that I played when they were current hits, and when Top-40 radio was fun to listen to! will soon be launched as a hybrid Classic Hits/VarietyHits Format for terrestrial over-the-air radio and available in all US markets via the amazing Synchronicity platform. Yes we're bringing back the kind of foreground Hit radio we relate to the "Golden Age" of Top-40, but updated with a contemporary sound. All music on Flashback40 Radio is "Human-Curated" which means it's researched, and mixed with human ears and a human soul, just like it's supposed to be, not by sterile algorhythmns and mathematical formulas. I edit each hour manually, and draw on my personal experience with the music to mix it just right. Flashback40 Radio Network plans to have a "Live from Hollywood" staff of pro DJs, and bring the listener-driven entertainment factor back to radio in a big way. The national syndication of both the Banana Joe Flashback Show and the 24/7 format spinoff Flashback40 Radio Network is the realization of a goal I have been working towards during the 40+ years of my career, fulfilling my intense desire to partner with so many great pros in our industry to put the fun and variety back on the radio! This money is going towards the new imaging, marketing and custom jingles that will help set us apart from the pack. In addition new and upgraded broadcast quality equipment both hardware and software, along with the addition of some well known pro voices to the format to take what you're hearing now to the next level of entertainment. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated, and will never be forgotten !
