Bambi needs a hernia op!

We adopted our beautiful, now, 5 year old pug Bambi a year and a half ago after she had been used as a breeding bitch for a number of years. When we got her she had a number of problems and infections and she was very overweight, so we have been working on that a lot! The stress on her body from all those little puppies was very clear.
She was initially diagnosed with a fatty lump on her underneath which was immediately exempt from her insurance due to being a 'pre-existing condition' because it was discovered in the first two weeks of the policy. The vets told us ideally we would have it removed (for £2000!) but it was not a major issue as it was not hurting her and she got a long fine with it. However, it has now been re-diagnosed as a hernia and our current vet has expressed a lot of concern about it's size, the fact her bladder may also be slipping into it (causing recurring cases of cystitus) and has also raised a huge concern about the fact it may develop into a strangulated hernia (this is when the hernia twists and cuts off blood supply from her insides and is potentially life threatening). We need to get this operated on as soon as possible due to the very imminent threat it poses to her health and had it been diagnosed correctly the first time we would have had it done a LONG time ago!
The vet speculates that either the stress of so many birth's or a 'quickie spay' (a spay done quickly and cheaply as she was no longer of use to the breeder) where the muscle was not sutured properly could be the cause.
We adopted her knowing that she would have problems and have always risen to occasion no matter what she has wrong with her because she is such a beautiful and wonderful dog and part of our family. However on this occasion and due to her other ailments we really need the help and support of other like minded and caring dog lovers to help pay for her surgery which she needs in the fairly immediate future. Even just £1 will put us one stop closer to our goal of a better and more comfortable life for her.
