This page is to help out a great friend, Emily Scates and her wonderful mother, Deborah Scates.
Emily's mom is a retired grade school teacher who has dedicated her life to learning, teaching, and health. From arm wrestling to beating the crap out of her daughter in tic tac toe, Deborah has always made sure to never let Emily have an easy win, for Deborah knew that as a single mother it was up to her to train Emily to be conditioned for life's many challenges ahead. Deborah has always been a fierce competitor, and now she must fight for her life. Her opponent: Multiple Myeloma.
Six days ago (from today Tuesday, June 17th, 2014) Deborah was fine-playing with her two grandDOGS, swimming, and lifting weights at her favorite gym, Clayton Rec, and working part time. Out of the blue she started experiencing chills and pain in her leg on Thursday night, June 12th, 2014. However, from Friday to Saturday the pain increased while her mobility decreased. Due to not having health insurance she was very reluctant to see medical assistance. By Sunday, late morning her feet and right arm were swollen, she had a fever, and she could not stay awake for more than 10 seconds. Deborah was rushed to the hospital and has been in the ICU since, fighting to regain her strength.
