Hi and thanks for reading my cause. I have custody of my 2yr old grandaughter Sailor. We call her Ziggy. My oldest daughter, who is 24 is her mother. She has never met her father who is in priso.
My daughter was a hard working beautiful girl. She studied hard in school and was responsible. She then became pregnant and was corresponding with a guy online as they had mutual friends. The day after Ziggy was born, he came to the hospital to meet my daughter. I wasn't in the room so I dont know what happened but CPS was called That day! They allowed her to leave with the baby. She continued to see this man and CPS called me 3 more times to come pick the baby up. Eventually, I convinced her to live with me. After 2 weeks, she left the baby with me to run out for 20 minutes and did not return for three days. I contacted an attorney used every dime I had to pay for the retainer and now have permanent guardianship over this sweet, loving child.
Also during this time, I had to have several spinal surgeries and had to leave my job as a 911 dispatcher after 20 years of service.
I have tried to get some help for her and hit a brick wall everytime. The real kicker is if I had allowed the state to take custody and THEN sought guardianship, Ziggy would've been eligible for a monthly stipend. I sought guardianship because I did not want her in state custody.
I am trying to start a college fund for this sweet girl, who got off to a rough start. And small things I can't afford to do for her. Dance or tumbling classes, etc. I would never ask people for financial help, but, this isn't about me. She deserves so much more than I can give.
