Join me in fundraising for a new tumble track for Sothwark Gymnastics Club .
Having attended a spectacular afternoon of incredible talent put on by young gymnasts (including my daughter) from the local community, from a wide variety of backgrounds, ages and disciplines, I was struck by sadness on hearing that the gymnasts could not train to their full capacity due to the unavailability of the right equipment. I was further dismayed to learn that the gymnasts had to travel to Hastings, Gillingham and Andover. Just to undertake crucial training in preparation for an upcoming competition, putting them at a great disadvantage. It is testimony to their drive, commitment and determination that they make their journey. This is what spurred me to want to take action to help Southwark Gymnastics Club to acquire a new tumble track which will assist all gymnasts of every discipline to practise their skills. Southwark Gymnastics Club is run on a not for profit basis and is a Community Interest Company. This is why it is able to offer gymnasts from the local community lower fees enabling more young people to engage with gymnastics who may be put off by the huge costs involved in the sport. join me in fundraising for a new tumble track for Sothwark Gymnastics Club. Help Southwark Gymnastics Club to retain their gymnasts. Three gymnasts currently competing at international level, including one representing the GBR team, have had to move to other, more equipped clubs meaning Southwark Gymnastics is not getting the recognition it very much deserves. Having the new track will mean we can retain our gymnasts and if they make it to the world stage they would still be representing Southwark Gymnastics Club as well as Team GB.
The new track will cost £17000. The club has already raised £2000 towards the cost through other fundraising activities. We hope to raise the rest through this crowdfunding page.
Any donation you make will help the club to achieve it's goal and we will be grateful for donations of any amount. Our goal is to purchase a new tumble track. You will be able to see where your donation has gone, and even better, if you come along to one of the adult gymnastic classes you will be able to take advantage of the new tumble track yourself.
