Hi, my name is Reed, and I'm a transgender man going through the transition from female to male. I'm a student at Hills Road Sixth Form College in Cambridgeshire, and I'm planning on taking a gap year starting next summer. This gap year is to give me an opportunity to get used to the effects of testosterone, which I will be prescribed either late this year or early next year. However, it is also the perfect opportunity for me to go through bilateral mastectomy -- also known as chest surgery or top surgery -- which I will be able to acquire if I privatise my treatment.
Privatised surgery is costly, and bilateral mastectomy in particular can cost up to £6000. Obviously this amount of money will be very difficult for me to raise in one year alone, which is why I've set up this account. Any money donated will bring me one step closer to being comfortable in my own body, as this surgery is highly important to me.
