Luther Fire-Rescue

The Luther Fire Department, located in Luther Oklahoma, has launched a fundraising campaign for the purchase of extrication equipment. Luther Fire-Rescue has numerous members trained in vehicle extrication, however, due to severe budgetary constraints the department has virtually no equipment to carry out these operations. At this time, Luther Fire's only extrication equipment consists of a pair of 25 year old Hurst spreaders and cutters. These items are extremely heavy and difficult to use, are prone to frequent breakdowns, and are not designed to handle the high-strength metals used in today's vehicles. Additionally, the equipment is not capable of handling any heavy rescue situations, such as school bus, farm equipment, heavy equipment, and rail extrication...all of which we can be (and have been) called upon to respond to at any given moment.

Below is a complete list of equipment that we wish to acquire. A Majority of this equipment is not available in our district without requesting mutual aid from other agencies, which can delay rescues up to 30 minutes or longer in some instances. Obtaining this equipment will not only aid our department, but will make us a regional asset for portions of three counties as well.
