Georgia her journey to the commonwealth

This is my daughter Georgia Stanley, she is 14 years old. At the age of 9 she was diagnosed with having a moderate learning disability which affect all aspects of her education, her social and communication skills and difficulty with co-ordination and fine motor skills. It was around this time she started Taekwondo and started training with Richard Allen at Allen Taekwondo Academy. It has helped her tremendously and improved her confidence and concentration. It has taken her longer than most of her peers but passed her black belt Dan grading in April 2013.

She has recently been given a place on the Great Britain Taekwondo poomsae team and has been selected to represent her country in the Commonwealth Taekwondo championship in Edinburgh, November 2014.

In order for her to maintain a high standard necessary for her to compete in this event she has to attend regular training sessions and seminars and courses aswell as further competitions leading up to this event which take place in various parts of the country.

Along with this training kit and competition kits are required along with Team Tracksuit.

She is representing children and young people with learning disabilities to show that no matter what if you work hard you can achieve your dreams and she is such an inspiration to me.

Any funding recieved will contribute towards the elite training sessions, seminars, travel expenses, kit and all competions that she is required to take part in and for the commonwealth championship.

Her journey is only just beginning and with your support will help this young athlete make her dream come true and become an inspiration to other young people and people with learning disabilities too.
