Big Save! Belladonna came to ADA from SVASC on 6/28. She was surrendered by her owners because they could not afford her medical care. Belladonna has violent seizures. The noisy pound was no place for a dog in her condition. She has started seizures meds and is relaxing in her foster home:) Her depth perception seems to be off and she bumps into a lot of things, and is a bit wobbly on her feet. We will be starting to fundraise as she will need bloodwork, medication, and follow-up vet care. Please help us provide Bella with the care she needs and deserves!
In 2013, Augusta Dog Adoptions saved 330 dogs from an uncertain future. Throughout Virginia, more and more people are learning about our organization, and are seeking ADA's help to find their next furry family member. Exactly what is the definition of "adoptable?" Many of the dogs ADA accepts into our foster program are left behind by other rescues because they are considered "unadoptable" or "difficult to adopt." We are often the last resort for large, mixed breeds, hounds, pit bull type dogs, and seniors dogs that are days from euthanasia. Donations to Augusta Dog Adoptions allow us to provide the care each individual dog needs. We then offer the public a healthy, fully vetted dog that is safe from euthanasia and ready for adoption at an affordable fee. This encourages adoption and decreases visits to breeders and pet stores.
Are we successful at what we do? Since 2007, 1,138 dogs have been saved because YOU have donated for their care, YOU have fostered them, and YOU have adopted them! They are living proof! ADA is an all-volunteer, 501c3 charity. We have no paid staff, no physical shelter, rely on the kindness of foster homes, and exist solely on donations.
