56 km/35 mile Grit Stone trail in a day raising money for Autism Inclusive
My name is Mark Davies, I'm 43 and am married with two children aged 3 & 4. Both my wife and my son are diagnosed with autism spectrum condition.
I am planning on completing the 56 km/35 mile Grit Stone trail, from Disley to Kidsgrove, in one day (July - date tbc dependent on weather), to raise money for Autism Inclusive and awareness of Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC). Autism Inclusive is a local charitable organisation based in Crewe that recognises the unique challenges that people with autism experience and provides autism specific specialist support, training and consultancy services to those with ASC and their parents or carers.
Autism Inclusive has done a lot for me on a personal level as it has given my wife, diagnosed with an ASC in 2013, a fresh perspective on her condition. With the help and advice she has gained from Autism Inclusive she has been able to come terms with and understand her ASC diagnosis and what it means, more than she has ever been able to do before. Through their work it has given her the opportunity to meet with other individuals on the autistic spectrum, people that she has been able to identify with and feel more comfortable with than any other group of people she has ever had the opportunity to meet with before. This has had the effect of boosting her confidence and giving her hope and support within an area of social health care that just isn’t available through mainstream channels.
With your sponsorship money Autism Inclusive will be able to continue to help those with an Autism Spectrum Condition and their parents/carers, and to raise general awareness
