Hugs Around the World

Tax deductible
"Simple touch may not cure an illness or erase a wound, but it can sew up the seams of separation we all feel when we're in pain." (The Healing Power of Touch)

You may have heard or participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. The challenge has raised awareness and support to fight ALS. What they’re doing is outstanding, and has inspired Karen Alexander (Auntie Karen) to start a challenge of her own.

The Auntie Karen Foundation (AKF) will launch the Hugs Around the World Challenge on Thursday, August 28th. The campaign, like the Ice Bucket Challenge, is to raise money for a great cause. AKF's mission is to "empower, enlighten & educate through the arts". AKF works to educate youth on topics which revolve around the arts, healthy living and financial literacy. Your participation and donation will help continue programs such as: the Young Entrepreneurs Conference, Legends of…(A Salute to Black History), and Gordon’s Garden.

The Challenge:

1. Hug a friend, neighbor, pet, stranger… ANYONE!
2. Take a selfie, well “usie”, of you and that person hugging it out (or attempting to hug it out).
3. Donate a minumum of $10 to the Auntie Karen Foundation. If you're challenged and decline, we ask that you donate $20 or more.
4. Post your "usie" on social media
5. Challenge 10 people to do the same. They have 48 hours to complete the challenge. Even if you decline to "hug it out", please still challenge others!

With everything happening in the world today: gun violence, domestic violence, mental illnesses-- we could all use a hug. Not only that, but a hug shows a sign of compassion or support. You never know what battle someone is fighting. A good ole fashion hug could be exactly what they need. Hugs Around the World is movement towards healing.

Your "Hug" will help to change the life of a child!
