Audacity: Growing Hope in 2015/2016

The Audacity Performing Arts Project supports and develops performing arts programs in Silicon Valley Schools. We specialize in building programs with school communities where these opportunities do not currently exist; communities where families cannot afford the cost of our programs.
In 2014-2015, 75% of participants in Audacity programs did so at zero cost to their families.
Audacity programs include:
* After school plays
* After school musicals
* Filmmaking classes
* Acting classes
* Dance classes
* Musical writing workshops
We bring our programs to the children who are most often left behind and to those who worry about drive by shootings. Our mission is to provide programs that offer hope and joy to young people who need healthy childhood experiences that teach hope for a better tomorrow.
The benefits to Arts Education are well known:
* School children exposed to drama, music and dance are often more proficient at reading, writing, and math. (USA Today, 2002)
* There is a link between arts education and improved literacy skills. (Guggenheim Museum, 2006)
* Arts education can help close the gap between socioeconomic groups, creating a more level playing field between children who may not be exposed to these enrichment experiences outside of school and some of their more privileged peers. (RAND Corporation, 2005)
* Arts education improves high school graduation rates. (The Center for Arts Education, 2009)
There is an abundance of statistics proving the benefit and necessity of arts education, and we ask that you be part of the team that funds and provides support for the programs that serve the future of our communities.
The funds we are working to raise now will fund Audacity’s programs for the 2015-2016 school year. Your support today will help to assure that more children will have opportunities that currently do not exist.
