Aspire Kibera - Sanitary Campaign
Donation protected
One reality of life in Kibera is that for some families it is a struggle to stretch their income between rent and food each month, and there is no money left over for 'luxuries' such as women's sanitary items. A tragic outcome of this is that many young women are forced to forfeit parts of their education.
However, it costs just £1.50 to provide sanitary pads for one woman per month - £18.00 per year. The value of this provision is huge: it is not only more sanitary than the makeshift alternatives, but also means that young women need not miss out on their education or employment unnecessarily.
In 2013 we are hoping to increase our links with schools and women's groups to provide sanitary items each month and therefore reach more young women. Find out more on our website here.
