Darko's Veterinary ER Bill/Ashes on hold

On easter morning my sphynx, Darko, started acting out of character. I noticed he was laying on his side, breathing heavy, and unable to stand up. As we are rushing him to the ER he only gets worse. His breathing becomes more heavy and spaced, he was crying in pain. We get to the ER and run inside. He's taken inside and a woman pulls us into a room. Darko was diagnosed with HCM. There were clots in his heart and traveling to his legs. He was put on oxygen, medicine to help the clots, aswell as heavy pain medications. His temperature was low, his oxygen was at 24 and that's with help. We were given the choice to euthanize my best friend or take the 30% chance that he would pull through, only for this to happen again. I was also told he would not be able to use his back legs again. We had to make the decision of putting him to sleep only a week after his 5th birthday. If anyone knows me, darko is my best friend - stuck to my hip every waking moment. He has gotten me through so much. The ER does not offer payment arrangements, but they did give me 7-10 days to come up with the amount needed. I tried to apply for care credit and I was denied. They will be holding his ashes until I pay the balance. I have a portion of it, but not all. Someone told me about this site, and here I am, heartbroken and in denial. Everything happened so quickly - unprepared is an understatement.
