The love of my life has a disorder that is causing her to waste away before my eyes. Sometimes, I am afraid that I will come home from work to see her in a coma or worse. There have been several diagnoses, but few answers. She has IBD, cachexia ("Wasting Syndrome"), neuropathy, and Jacksonian siezures. The last is among the worse to witness. Her body contorts uncomfortably, with her legs curling behind her, fingers twisting. Neck bending backwards, her throat muscles tighten, and she coughs, red-faced, because she feels as if she is choking. For minutes after she catches her breath, she still can't talk.
Exhausted afterward, some days, she needs me to walk her to the bathroom, holding her hand and being there if she stumbles. Determined to do what she can, Shara persists with her feet still curved inward, bumbling erractically as if she's a marionette with limbs controlled by an invisible puppeteer. She will only let me help her as much as she needs. No more. There have been nights she has been so weak, I have carried her to the restroom.
Heat can bring on the siezures or make them worse. Her doctor advised her to avoid getting hot. But we live in Georgia. And it's summer. Shara was in the hospital 13 days ago and has had seizures constantly today, with the big, full body ones occurring once every 10 minutes.
She has done Internet research and found an area in Washington that is rather temperate, staying between 40-70 degrees all year long. There is also medicine in Washington that is not available here. What we request is for moving expenses for a family of four.
