Send Ashley & Sean to Volunteer in Bali!

Hi Guys! Our names are Ashley Dempster and Sean Yorke, and we are a 21-year-old couple from Calgary, AB, Canada. We have been presented with an incredible opportunity to travel to Southeast Asia, particularly Bali, as volunteer English school teachers for two weeks this coming March.
This is a trip that Ashley has been waiting to take her whole life, as her passion for helping others has been alive and well since she was merely 4 years old. However, volunteer travel is a totally new idea to Sean, who couldn't help but inherit some of Ashley's passion that has rubbed off on him over the past year and a half. We are both so incredibly ecstatic to take on this challenge of a lifetime. However, we need YOUR help to make our dreams become a reality!
We are asking our friends, family, coworkers, grocery clerks and mailmen (yes, everyone) for help in raising funds for our adventure. Amazing as it will be, two weeks of volunteer work carries a hefty price tag once you factor in flights, insurance, medication, accommodation, meals, transportation, and the purchase of necessary materials to take to an eager class of Balinese children for two weeks. Bali, located in Indonesia, is primarily a tourism-based island, however often times the resources in more remote locations are minimal. Many children grow up without a proper education, and being unable to speak english is incredibly limiting for their futures. Without this vital skill, young children are often forced to work alongside their parents in the rice fields or at the markets, making little money and working in often appalling conditions. English speaking children have hope for a future in the tourism industry on Bali, or even jobs related to medicine, law, education, and many other things.
The total cost for us to participate in this life-changing and extremely rewarding experience is around $3,000.00 per person, for a total of $6,000.00 for the two of us. We understand that this is a large goal, but we truly believe that through our own fundraising efforts (hopefully including musical performances, yoga-by-donation classes, bottle drives, silent auctions, etc.) and simply asking for online donations from our loved ones, we will be able to reach our goal before our departure on February 28th, 2014.

***We also feel it is important to tell you that we will be continuing onto Thailand after our volunteer experience in Bali for an additional two weeks. This is purely a personally-funded trip for us and your volunteer donations WILL NOT be used towards our travels in Thailand. If we do happen to surpass our fundraising goal of $6,000.00, the additional funds will be used to purchase supplies for the school, or be given as a donation directly to the school itself.***
