Ashley Young ICR Restructive Surgery

Donation protected
My name is Michele Stalion. My dear 15 year old niece, Ashley, daughter of Bill and Michelle (Bugajski) Young has been fighting a rare progressive disease called Idiopathic Condylar Resportion, ICR. Ashley needs your help now.

ICR affects less than 1% of the population.  It's a gradual dissolving of the jaws hinges that causes the lower jaw and chin to droop farther and farther.  Ashley's falling jaw causes a gap between her upper and lower teeth, making it difficult to eat, speak and unable to fully close her mouth.

Left untreated, the rare medical condition could someday take her life.  Total jaw reconstruction is now required.  The 10+ hour surgery will reposition the upper and lower jaw to close her bite with titanium joints affixed to her skull.

The first 3 months will be the absolute worst.  Her mouth will be wired shut and on a all liquid diet for 6-8 weeks.  Her hearing will be impaired due to the about of swelling. All this during her "Sweet Sixteen Birthday".  Ashley's full recovery will take 6-12 months, after she has learned to eat and talk with her new jaw.

The purpose of Ashley's campaign is to fund the down payment of the portion of the surgeons fee that is not covered by insurance.
*Only a few surgeons in the US preform this surgery.

Here are some facts about the surgery:

June 2019 Surgery
Surgeon-upfront, out of pocket $37,833.00
Surgeon Assistant-upfront, out of pocket $11,782.00
Total $49,615

Not including
ICU hospital stay, MRI, anesthesiologist....

Ashley has a bright future ahead of her.  Ashley's goal is to give back to the most needy, in her opinion, and become a neonatal nurse.
She belongs to a number of school clubs at Valparaiso High School including Future Medical Professionals.

Although her plan to work as a lifeguard this summer has been postponed a year, her plans for volunteering at the hospital should only be delayed 6 months.

Even with all her pain and medical problems, Ashley continues to be on the Honor Roll and is a high school athlete.

Ashley has a rough road ahead of her but complaining is not in her nature.....that is wasted energy.

When you see Ashley, she ALWAYS has a smile on her face. Lets help her stay like that.

A message from Ashley:
