Standing Power Wheelchair for Lori Wiler

Hello, my name is Steve and I am seeking donations for a Standing Power Wheelchair for my girlfriend, Lori Wiler.
Lori is 45 and has Muscular Dystrophy and has been confined to a wheelchair for 25 years. Since that time her health has declined from not only from her disease, but also from sitting for long periods of time in her wheelchair. She needs to be able to stand for her circulation, to keep her muscles active, digestion and other complications from sitting for hours at a time. Not to mention being able to see and talk to someone eye to eye, something she hasn't done in many,many years.
She has tried numerous times to obtain a standing wheelchair, however Medicaid, Medicaid will not cover the cost of one. They claim that it is unnecessary. Unnecessary to stand? I wonder if these people who make these laws would feel the same if they were placed in a wheelchair and told not to stand for twenty five years.
Lori is the most kind and caring person that I have ever known. If you ever had the chance to meet her, you would agree. Please help in any way you can. I know its a lot of money and this type of wheelchair should not be this expensive. It's just not fair to people like Lori who really need them and do not have the insurance or funds to buy one.
I understand that this will take a long time to get the funds for her, but to me, she is worth it. Thank you all, Steve.

UPDATE*---- Good News! We were able to find a manufacturer of Standing Wheelchairs for a much lower cost of around $18,000. Still a lot of money for us, but its better than $40,000. Thanks to all of you for your generosity. Hopefully within a years time, Lori will be standing again. I will keep updating until then.
