Support our dancers to get to New York!

Donation protected
We are proud to share that 5 of our aspiring dancers have been accepted onto the prestigious Ailey School Summer Intensive, in New York, USA. The Summer Intensive will be taking place between 26 June and 29 July 2023. Places to the Ailey Summer Intensive are highly sought after, and acceptance is by audition only.

This is an unparalleled opportunity to develop the next generation of dance talent of African and Caribbean heritage, sending 5 young people to train in a world-renowned dance company.

How did this opportunity come about?

In August 2022, the dancers took part in an Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater workshop organised by Dance Consortium, held in Milton Keynes. These dancers were the only young people in attendance to have been offered this unique opportunity to train further in New York.

We are raising funds to support these talented dancers, which includes international air travel, tuition, and accommodation. We would greatly appreciate any contribution you can make to support our incredible group of dancers. CAN YOU HELP?

Artistry Youth Dance (AYD) is a London based youth dance company that supports young people of African and Caribbean heritage. Through a world class training programme, we are leading the way in creating opportunities for young black dancers. We’re passionate about empowering young people through creative dance development, and along with high-quality training, offer unforgettable dance opportunities with industry leaders and professionals.

We’re proud to nurture a richer and more culturally diverse dance community in the UK. As a Company, we’re committed to developing the next generation of black dance artists.

The Ailey School forms part of the world-renowned Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre. The company has earned a reputation as one of the most acclaimed international ambassadors of American culture, promoting the uniqueness of the African-American cultural experience and the preservation and enrichment of American modern dance.

Why are we doing this?

Since Artistry Youth Dance was founded in 2013, we've showcased and celebrated young dancers of African and Caribbean heritage and have provided opportunities for young people to train with leading dance artists and choreographers across the wide spectrum of the dance industry. We know from our own experiences and testimonials from our young dancers the importance of exposing them to successful role models, who take up space in venues and dance organisations that they once thought were not for people that looked like them. We also know the value of international travel experiences and how this can enrich a young person’s life.

We want more young dancers of African and Caribbean heritage to be uplifted, inspired, and encouraged to pursue their dreams in dance, the Arts, or whatever career path they choose. Can you help us make this a reality?

"Having the opportunity to be mentored and led by choreographers and teachers who share my passion and love of dance is an opportunity I would savour and appreciate always. Attending Alvin Ailey will provide me with a privilege not many get to fulfil and for that I am truly grateful." - Sarah, 19
