Students from Dorsey High have founded The Dorsey High Class of 2005 Reunion Inc, a Los Angeles based charitable non-profit aiming to provide college preparatory services and scholarship aid to disadvantaged and underrepresented students currently attending Dorsey High. This organization has named their inaugural scholarship in honor of Ms. McNeel, as she was a champion for children and for education attainment.
Former LAUSD college counselor, school administrator, and teacher Ms. April M. McNeel tragically succumbed to illness at the tender age of 43 Christmas of 2014. Her commitment to serving underrepresented students of color over the last 20 years has left an indelible impression on many, including her past students from Susan Miller Dorsey High School.
Although she may not physically be with us, Ms. April M. McNeel's legacy continues to thrive through the student lives she positively affected.
Please consider helping us raise scholarship funds for deserving Dorsey students who will be attending an accredited college or university by fall 2016, and for the many students in the years to come.
