A Place for Grace is on its way to opening 9/2! We still need funding to help with the getting the center ready.
We passed our inspection with only a few updates needed - we couldn't be happier.
There are so many special needs children that need a place to go after school and we are the only place in the area to help them.
Thank you for your continued support.
We have raised 8% of our goal....lots to do to get ready for inspection.
Supporting your community is a great way to develop your social capital!
Thank you to the supporters who have contributed directly to A Place for Grace! To date we have raised $2,500.00. That is 25 - $100 donations :)
We are still looking for an additional 225 - $100 contributions.
Please keep things moving :)
Special Needs Children should be honored for who they are! A Place for Grace will do just that.
We need your support to make it happen for the almost 700 special needs children in Saginaw Township.
Today was a work day at the Center!

The support is contagious.....we still have a ways to go....but every penny counts!
A Place for Grace has a scheduled inspection for July 24th to obtain our license.
We still need to raise the money to purchase supplies, equipment and toys for the kids.
Please pass the word! Thank you.

Every Child Deserves a Little Grace
A Place for Grace is a child care center specifically designed for special needs children. It was founded by me, Jenny Dumont, Mother of Emma Grace. Currently there are over 6,000 children in Saginaw County that qualify for special education services that have no facility to attend that truly serve and honor their mild to moderate impairments and disabilities. Emma Grace is cognitively impaired with epilepsy and the sole inspiration for A Place for Grace.
Last year I created A Place for Grace after being called to pick up Emma from daycare because she was having a meltdown. When I went to pick her up the 4th time that week, I saw a caregiver holding Emma who was screaming, sitting on a pad trying to keep her from hurting herself or others. I was told that if her behavior continued I would have to find another place for her. I was devestated! I knew Emma loved to play with other kids. Just because she doesn't act, talk or play the same - doesn't mean she shouldn't have quality child care. That afternoon - on the drive home - A Place for Grace was formed.
We are diligently working on our license through the State of Michigan for our facility. In the meantime, we are looking to raise the capital to open. We have a facility that will allow us to have 32 children. We need to buy all of our educational and play supplies, as well as some cosmetic work. Our budget calls for $750 per child which equals $24,000.
Parents will be paying tuition rates compareable to traditional child care centers, but given that our staff will consist of Certified Special Education Teachers and experienced suppot staff, they are slightly higher. Also - over the summer months, our center will offer all of the services the children typically don't receive: speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and even art and music therapy. Our center will truly serve and honor our special needs children!
We are also working on establishing a scholarship program for families who need assistance in paying for the services we offer.
This will be one of the first child care centers of its kind in this area and I truly want to help familes feel special and give each of our special children a little grace!
