Need wheelchair and van

My name is Robin Humphrey. I was in an accident when I was 21 yrs old (1980) and I have been in a wheelchair ever since. Last year my 15 yr old daughter Sara and I left a domestic abuse situation. We are happy and healthy and living on our own, but we are struggling to make ends meet. I want to go back to work but I do not have any dependable transportation or an adequate wheelchair.
I have been jumping through hoops with Medical/Medicare since May 2012 to get a new manual wheelchair. In 34 years they have only bought me two chairs. The chair I am using now is old, broken and too small for me. The metal guards that go between my wheels and my hips are pushed out into the wheels, so when I push myself I am fighting friction and the metal gets hot and burns my hips. The other problem is the chrome on the hand grips is pealing off and it slices my hands like razor blades.
I really need a wheelchair van but cannot afford one. I did some research and there are no grants or funding to help disabled people get handicap vehicles. At least not that I could find.
I receive no child support or spousal support. We are living on my disability payments of approx $900 a month. It breaks my heart when I see my daughter wearing shoes or pants with holes in them and I cannot buy her her basic necessities. She has been through a lot. I need to take care of her the best that I can. I really want to go back to work, but I feel like I am stuck without a dependable vehicle or wheelchair.
I have a 1994 Ford Ranger Truck with 267,000 + miles on it. I have to put 3 quarts of tranny fluid in it every week (no joke) to keep it shifting gears. I cannot afford the $1200 to have the transmission rebuilt and the motor is so old it would be like throwing good money to bad. Wheelchair vans range from $30,000 used to over $100,000 new with a lift. I would be perfectly happy with a used one as long as it is dependable.
