Some backstory: Bike and Build harnesses the power of young folk (in a character building kind-of-way, not a Matrix humans-as-batteries-kind-of-way) to spend a summer biking and building with affordable housing organizations. I did a 830 mile trip last summer called "Coastal Drift". It was one of the best things I've done. In 2015 I'm hoping to bike from Portland, Maine to Santa Barbara, California, but I need your help.
Quick Stats: There isn't a state in this country where a person can work a standard 40 hour work week, make minimum wage, and pay the (standard) 30% of their income for rent. Given that 46.2 million US citizens live under the poverty line (that's $23,050 for a family of four), the need for relief is urgent. The money I raise for my trip will go directly to affordable housing organizations on the front lines of solving this problem.
The Plea: Please donate whatever you are able and SHARE this on you social medias. If you ever thought "Oh I forgot Andy's birthday" or "I should get him a Christmas present..." or "He's so nice and charming, he should get gifts for it" then please just give a generous donation instead. This cause and this experience means a lot to me. To paraphrase Optimus Prime of the Transformers univers: Let's roll out (together)!
