After-School Program Fundraiser

AMPED (Aspiring Minds…Past Everyday Dilemmas) is an organization geared toward encouraging and inspiring young people to realize and come into the strength they have within themselves to achieve great fetes within their schools, homes, communities, etc. – despite the environment from which they come. As a people, society has engrained in our minds that because we have little we can only achieve little. AMPED was founded to discourage this “I can’t because I don’t have” mentality by encouraging an “I WILL because I CAN“ standard of living through faith, exposure to new activities and ideas, and help from the community.

AMPED is a three year old organization that has operated as an after-school program at Attucks Middle School in the Sunnyside neighborhood of Houston, TX. We currently have over 50 students signed up for the program. Based on participation and merit, we have selected 25 of the students to participate in our first ever college campus tour. Many of the students have never been on a field trip outside of Houston. We have selected the University of Louisiana-Lafayette as our campus of choice.
