Dear Family, friends and community members,
My name is Fran Arnold. I have established this campaign to help support a friend and his family, both financially and spiritually. I hope you will consider helping as much as possible to get this family through their journey of cancer.
My friend is Larry (Laurence) Firth. We met Larry and his family at Saint John Paul the Great Catholic High School when our sons attended together. His son, Colin and our son, Collin are BEST friends and that friendship has extended into each family. The boys compliment each other and their antics keep both families entertained and entwined.
Larry is husband to Marybeth; father to Ian, Colin and Kaitlyn; and grandfather to Abby. He and Marybeth will welcome their second grandchild this year as Ian and his wife welcome another daughter into the world. He is son, brother, friend and devout in his Catholic faith. Kaitlyn is a freshman at Saint John Paul the Great. He is pictured with her on this page earlier this year at JP's Father/Daughter dance.
On December 26, 2014, after strange symptoms presented themselves, Larry was diagnosed with a form of brain tumor called Glioblastoma. The tumor was already at a Stage 4. Doctors were able to remove 95% of the it, which was encouraging. Three surgeries followed, along with complications from chemotherapy and radiation. These surgeries have left Larry exhasted and sick, but he is strong in his faith and supported each day by his family. THE BEST NEWS IS THAT A CT SCAN PERFORMED LAST WEEK SHOWED NO TUMOR GROWTH SINCE JANUARY!!!
Here's where this family needs your help. Larry is the breadwinner for his family. Savings are dwindling quickly and even though many are bringing meals and offering prayers of support, there is a need for financial support. As with so many in the mainstream medical community, health-care professionals dismiss the possibility of recovery and don't believe in MIRACLES; but WE DO! Larry's cancer is already lying dormant! We want to assure him that he is already a miracle. The family wants to help Larry live and Larry believes he can "get it done" too! We are trying to make sure that the Health Providers don't write Larry off, but help Larry live!
I would like to help relieve the financial worries for this family and ensure the that funds needed to transport Larry to and from doctor's appointments as he gains his life back will be there. He is still working on strengthening his body to be able to stand and walk. He needs Physical Therapy not covered by insurance. He needs home health care by professionals to provide his body with IV fluids not covered by insurance. The family has learned of a new and very promising trial at Duke University. They are also exploring avenues of treatment at NIH. These treatments and trials are outside the coverage of their insurance. His family will need to stay nearby the hospitals through treatments whether at Duke in North Carolina or NIH in Baltimore. Larry's wife, Marybeth is with Larry 24/7 attending to his needs. They are strong in their love and faith that God will heal Larry and so is his family and all of us pulling for Larry.
It is my prayer that everyone who reads this will give something to help support this family; support this dad who can't go to work right now; support that is vital to providing Larry with the best medicine has to offer him. Every penny of this campaign will go into the Firth household account to support them.
