Help Amanda Move into a House

Donation protected
I have been living in my current apartment for 4.5 years and I had planned to live there until I could afford to purchase a house (probably in 1-2 years); however, my landlord is making that difficult.

Let me start at the beginning. I moved out of my previous place due to mold growing that the landlord refused to fix. That resulted in asthma for myself and my dog as well as heart problems for me.

When I first moved in, this landlord said all the right things. He said he would fix things and not just put patches on them. He has been nothing but terrible since then.

My heat didn't work for 3 years. Not at all. The pilot light kept burning out. So he had someone bypass the pilot light and cost me $200/month to heat to 55 degrees. He then finally had someone fix it for real. The unit is original to the house and my landlord refuses to replace it.

I had a short in my kitchen wiring. It took him 2 months to get an electrician out there who told me on the phone that the day he came out was the day he was notified. Inspection revealed exposed copper wiring on every switch. The electrician wanted to test all circuits in the building, my landlord refused. They only fixed the one circuit.

My toilet broke due to the upstairs neighbor clogging the pipes in the basement. My landlord waited a day to call a plumber.

Various other problems have come up, all taking way too long for a response.

Now we get to the issue at hand. My ceiling has been leaking and falling for a year. I finally got my landlord to bring out a contractor to look at the ceilings who advised that the kitchen needed to be removed, the leak found, and then replaced. Three months later someone was brought in to fix it. That was yesterday. I came home to shotty plaster patches on the ceilings and about 1/8th of an inch of plaster dust over everything I own. It took three hours to clean my apartment. I have video of the plaster dust and the picture here is of my socks when I was done. My landlord's response to my complaint of 3 hours worth of cleaning - your apartment was dirty already.

I really need to move and not deal with any more landlords. I have some money saved up for a down payment but could really use more than what I have and some money for a moving company as I have a lot of things and my heart can't take a lot of heavy lifting (thank the first apartment in StL for that).

Honestly, I will take any help you can give.
