Replace Alley Cat's Stolen Computer
Donation protected
WOW! Huge thanks to everyone who helped us reach our $800 goal!
At this point we're hoping to go above and beyond! Any additional funds we're able to raise from here on out will go toward a better computer lock, an online backup service and equipment (like a small PA system) to improve our gallery & events space. Please continue to give & share!

We're trying to raise $800. Here's why:
Today we regretfully present the case of, "Independent Bookshop has a Small Profit Margin and Really Can't Afford a New Computer."
The facts: Alley Cat Books , a small independent bookstore in San Francisco's Mission District, had our computer stolen 2 weeks ago. (We even made the local news! ) That computer held all of our data from the past several years. It contained our essential business operations, like event planning and ordering, as well as countless photos, notes, and reference points that were incredibly valuable to us – all lost!
The culprit: Is still at large. Immediately after the robbery, Store Manager Jordan attempted to apprehend the thief, chasing him down the street. When cornered, the dastardly villain pulled a taser, forcing the peace-loving Jordan to cease pursuit.
Denouement: We'll never be able to recover the photos and other data, but thankfully we have insurance that allowed us to order a new computer. However, the difference between what we're getting back (after deductible, devaluation etc.) and what we paid is a hefty expense we didn't expect this month and wasn't in our budget. That's where, hopefully, you come in.
Your role: We're trying to raise $800 to cover the difference, and we're hoping you'll help! Any donation, from $5 to $50, will help our small bookstore.
Please donate whatever you can, and thank you for helping local, independent businesses survive and thrive in San Francisco!
